About

Simon took his DJing from a pastime to a profession in 2015 by winning the Spin-Off held by Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

"The sound was terrific and your selection made for a great Arena experience. Thanks and well done."

- ARQ Sydney patron feedback

After being selected as one of eight finalists - and the challenge of then playing a tight ten-minute set on the final night of the competition, also broadcast on OX Live radio - winning the competition saw him go straight on to DJ on the Mardi Gras Sunset Cruise. He then immediately became a resident DJ at Stonewall Hotel, the very club that hosted the event that he won, and famed Sydney venues ARQ Sydney, The Beresford Hotel, The Oxford, Sky Terrace, Kinselas Hotel, Potts Point Hotel (formerly The Sugarmill) and The Flinders have since also been hosts to his sets.

A year on from winning the Spin-Off, Simon returned to OX Live in 2016 to play a one-hour guest mix which, along with his other podcasts, can be streamed via Mixcloud and Podomatic.

Also providing music to outside of the bar and club scene, his corporate clients have included Ogilvy Public Relations, Belle Property, F45, Grill’d and World Square.

Simon kicked-off 2017 playing at Sydney’s landmark venue, Ivy, for I Remember House on New Year’s Day, and went on to also join the Mardi Gras and Good Friday editions of the same revered event. He has also become a regular feature of Headliner Group's new events Go Out and This Is It, and has risen to the be among the most respected of ARQ Sydney's resident DJs, featuring in the main Arena for long weekends, New Year and Mardi Gras.

Revelling in DJing as both an artistic and technical pursuit, DJ Simon Rooke has earned a reputation for captivating audiences whether they are sipping cocktails at sunset or packing a dancefloor at 2am.
